Top 10 Greatest Soundtrack Songs of Disney Movies of All Time

As someone who grew up with Disney movies, I was attracted not only to the movie itself but also to the greatest Disney soundtrack that made it more delightful. The songs bring back childhood memories, sparking joy, and make me sing along and dance like I’m a Disney main character who can defeat the Evil Queen or build an ice castle, and I think so many people also feel the same way.

The fascinating songs, whether playful tunes from classic animations or cheerful anthems from the latest releases, formed the emotional symbols of every adventure and expressed the magic of narrative in a unique way. Besides childhood memories, there are outstanding songs with well-written lyrics that live in our minds. Here are my top 10 greatest Disney songs of all time.

10. Start of Something New

The 10th rank soundtrack comes from the popular Disney original movie series “High School Musical”. Actually, there’s nothing special about the lyrics. But the meaning behind the song gives me motivation to step out of comfort zone and try something different. The melody is catchy and energetic, which fits with the overall theme of the movie.

9. We’re All In this Together

The lively and upbeat melody of this song always boosts my energy and brings back memories of cheerful days in high school. I also like the meaning of the song. The lyrics convey the idea of the strength of teamwork, or working hand in hand to overcome challenges while reaching our dreams.

8. You’ll Be In My Heart

This song is from the old Disney animated movie “Tarzan”. I’m not into the melody, but the lyrics are heartwarming. It expresses unconditional love, protection, and support even in difficult times.

7. Let It Go

This anthem from “Frozen” has been iconic since its first release in 2013. The lyrics express the themes of self-discovery, resilience, and liberation. The combination of Idina Menzel’s amazing vocals, which successfully convey the message, and the catchy melody turned the song into a global phenomenon.

6. How Far I’ll Go

Featured in “Moana” this uplifting song expresses the themes of self-discovery, exploration, and the ambition to fulfill dreams. Auli’i Cravalho’s amazing voice successfully conveys the emotional journey of Moana.

5. Try Everything

Zootopia’s “Try Everything” performed by Shakira, serves an upbeat and optimistic melody that never fails to motivate me. The song conveys the idea of not being afraid to take a risk, face the failures, try everything to succeed, and not give up after facing difficulties.

4. Set It All Free

Ash, played by Scarlett Johansson in the “Sing” movie, performs this rock-infused and energetic song. This song expresses the idea of freedom, self-expression, and get rid of anything that limiting personal growth and happiness. The melody is catchy, but in my opinion, there’s some part of the electric guitar sound that’s uncomfortable to listen to.

3. A Whole New World

Considered the best and timeless favorite of Disney, this classic duet of Aladdin and Jasmine takes me on an emotional and romantic magic carpet ride. This one even won Best Original Song at the 65th Academy Award.

2. Speechless

“Speechless” featured in “Aladdin” live-action, is a powerful song that expresses Jasmine’s desire for the right to speak up and stand up against injustice. This song has so many versions, and one of my favorites is the Japanese version.

1. I See the Light

greatest Disney soundtrack

And my favorite Disney soundtrack is “I See the Light” from the popular movie “Tangled“. Everybody might say it’s basic, but still, this song is a bop, and I enjoy it. When the melody plays, I feel like I’m being pulled onto a boat at night while hundreds of lanterns are released into the sky.

The song expresses the emotions of Rapunzel and Flynn Rider and their romantic moment, depicting the themes of love, adventure, and the pursuit of dreams.

From my top 10 Disney soundtracks, most of them are upbeat and energetic songs that depict the themes of self-discovery, freedom, exploration, and pursuing dreams. The songs not only show outstanding musical but also the ability of great music to arouse emotions and make a substantial contribution to the story itself. And last, those rank based on my preference, which might be different from yours.
